This intricately carved panel depicts a beautifully carved Ganesh flanked by a repeating floral motif. Although very old, the carving on this piece is still detailed and prominent. Flecks of old paint and lime can still be seen amongst the carving adding to the sense of age.
Salvaged from a building fallen into disrepair in the state of Maharashtra on the Deccan Plateau in western India, this lintel would have been used above a door. This particular piece dates from the early 19th century and would look fabulous on a wall or above a mantle piece.
Supplied fitted with wall hangers.
